Hubby and I went to Dubai for a day, and let me tell you that only one day it is not enough to see everything this city has to offer. We were rushing all day trying to see the most that we could, and it was a little overwhelming because I am the kind of person that likes to enjoy, observe, relax and take all the time I can to explore a new city. So we promised to ourselves that we needed to go back in the future and spend more time getting to know Dubai.
Dubai is such a beautiful city, it is so easy to forget that you are in the middle of the desert because of the modernity that you can see on their tall and elegant buildings and different structures.
There are so many souks(traditional stores) in which you can buy the rarest spices, traditional clothes, perfumes, lamps, hand painted plates, elegant rugs and even gold, in fact there is a souk designated only for purchasing gold, I never had the opportunity to go there because it was Friday and all Fridays the souks open late and some of them are closed but in my next visit this is the first place I want to go.
The people in the markets tend to be very kind and friendly and some of them speak a lot of languages, but still you should never forget to bargain your way in order to score some good deals.
Mi esposo y yo fuimos a Dubai por un día, y déjenme decirles que un día no fue suficiente para conocer por completo esta ciudad. Estuvimos todo el tiempo apurados tratando de ver lo más que podíamos y fue un poco abrumador porque yo soy de las personas que le gusta relajarse y explorar una ciudad poco a poco, admirarla y tomarme mi tiempo. Así que nos prometimos volver en el futuro esta vez por más días.
Dubai es una ciudad muy hermosa, es sencillo olvidar que uno se encuentra en el medio del desierto por la modernidad que se respira en el ambiente al observar los altos y majestuosos edificios y diferentes estructuras que adornan la ciudad.
Hy muchos souks(tienditas tradicionales) en las que se puede comprar desde las más variadas y raras especias, pasando por ropa tradicional, perfumes, platos pintados a mano, elegantes alfombras y hasta oro, de echo hay un souk destinado solo a la compra de oro, lastimosamente no pude ir a visitarlo porque era Viernes y los Viernes por lo regular abren tarde o están cerrados, pero para mi próxima visita es el primer lugar al que iré sin duda alguna.
La gente en los mercaditos tiende a ser muy amable y muchos de ellos inclusive hablan varios idiomas así que comunicarse no va a ser un problema. Lo que si tienes que tener presente es que debes regatear los precios siempre para poder obtener una buena compra.
One of the first things that we wanted to see as soon as we got in Dubai was the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.
A year ago I had the opportunity to visit the Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur(Malaysia) and I thought those where huge towers but after seeing the Burj Khalifa, the Petronas are just babies in comparison with this megatall skyscraper.
I took a couple of pictures but I had to crouch to the floor to get a good angle of the entire structure.
We had lunch at the hard Rock Café and I got a little souvenir for me to remember this trip.
After that we went to the Dubai mall, an amazing place to get lost and literally shop till you drop Lol.
Later that day we went to the Atlantis hotel in the iconic Palm Jumeirah island and we spent a wonderful afternoon getting to see the water parks, and the rest of the island.
We returned to Abu Dhabi very happy and very tired that night. Getting to know a little bit of Dubai was amazing, we definitely need to go back soon.
Una de las primeras cosas que quisimos hacer apenas llegamos a Dubai fue conocer la Burj Khalifa, la torre más alta del mundo. Hace un año atrás tuve la oportunidad de conocer las torres gemelas Petronas en Kuala Lumpur(Malasia) y pensaba que esas torres eran inmensas, pero luego de ver a la Burj Khalifa pienso que las Petronas son bebés en comparación con esta.
Tomé varias fotos pero tuve que agacharme hasta el suelo para poder conseguir un buen ángulo y que se vea la torre.
Tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a almorzar al Hard Rock Café, donde me compré una camiseta de souvenir, y luego de ello fuimos al mall de Dubai donde literalmente puedes perderte y comprar hasta que ya no puedas más.
También fuimos a conocer el hotel Atlantis que queda en la icónica isla palmera Jumeirah donde pasamos una tarde muy linda conociendo los parques acuáticos y el resto de la isla.
Regresamos esa noche muy cansados pero felices a Abu Dhabi. Conocer un poquito de Dubai fue maravilloso, definitivamente tenemos que regresar por más.
This was the last of my trips for this year, now it is time to get ready to go back home. I just hope to have the opportunity to get to know different countries now in America.
